Spirituality in New Mexico

While Ghost Ranch is owned by PC(USA), many, if not most, of the people here are not Presbyterian. Actually, there is less of an emphasis on Christianity and more of an emphasis on spirituality so to include people of all religious and belief backgrounds.

So, the challenge I am faced with now is how to remain connected to my faith while respecting the faiths of others in this diverse environment.

I forgot to bring a Bible, so I had to download one onto my iPad. There is a labyrinth here, so since I seem to get up ridiculously early I think I might start walking it in the mornings with my iPod for some prayer/reflection time. Also, on Sundays there is a worship service, so I am going to try and get to that. But, Sunday is also the only day college staff has off, so it will definitely be a challenge.

Today, I am reading Genesis, the book of beginnings. This whole experience is new to me, I am in the midst of a new beginning of a life and world for the next ten weeks. All experiences are new to me here, all the people are new as well. So, in the midst of all this newness I must search for God's guidance, while keeping in mind that sometimes it shows up in the most unexpected of places.

  1. Sounds like the Seminary - but we might have a few more Presbyterians.
